Have i become Comfortably numb?

I don't feel like scoring good grades in the exam
I don't feel like competing with others. I want to compete with myself
but it seems less thrilling than competing and fighting with others
I don't feel like doing lots of things which I had earlier declared
mandatory for myself.
Have I become comfortably numb?

Hello.
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone home?

Come on, now.
I hear you're feeling down.
Well I can ease your pain,
Get you on your feet again.

Relax.
I need some information first.
Just the basic facts:
Can you show me where it hurts?

There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're sayin'.
When I was a child I had a fever.
My hands felt just like two balloons.
Now I got that feeling once again.
I can't explain, you would not understand.
This is not how I am.
I have become comfortably numb.

Ok.
Just a little pinprick. [ping]
There'll be no more --aaaaaahhhhh!
But you may feel a little sick.

Can you stand up?
I do believe it's working. good.
That'll keep you going for the show.
Come on it's time to go.

There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're sayin'.
When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse,
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look but it was gone.
I cannot put my finger on it now.
The child is grown, the dream is gone.
I have become comfortably numb.

"comfortably numb" is the term that rather scares me. It's bcz someone i used to know long long ago, used this term quite often. i dont wot ever where the implications of it on his life, but his comfortable numbness surely made the lives of others around him a living hell. Sorry for driving personal implications here; but that's how people relate to each other's expereinces....anyways....maybe it's ur flu that's bringging u down or may be it's prolonged examination stress. i usuallly try to plan, study, work ahead of time, so my deadlines dont suffer. As i too am often struck down by moods...Then again the idea of competing with urself is better than competing with others, but then u v to set pretty high standards for urself as well.

I hope i dont let the "comfortably numb" thing get deeper into my head, but rite now it doesnt seem to go away.Perhaps the state of mind that i call "comfortably numb" is state of mind i love. But i've labelled it comfortably numb beacuse i've been brainwashed to believe that the best things in life are getting first rank in the class and being the best of the crowd.
Me and examination stess. No way!! i do study at the last minute and get away with it .Competing with yourself is the only constant competition you can have.Others come and go.Sometimes we associate competion with some other people so strongly that when they leave we dont feel like trying.
