Around fifty of the 234 members of Mktg Association of Pakistan turned up.Most of them were in their 40's and looking for forming new contacts more than anything else.
Their method :
Step 1 :Ask the Marketing a Director a witty question in Q & A session
and use it to trigger conversation with others after the seminar
Step 2: Exchange business cards
Step 3 : Walk home with hopes of new businesses coming in.
My comment : Good for them.But i dont want to be a maketing professional and spend rest of my life developing some toothpaste brand,and feel good at my death bed that i increased its market share from 30% to 70%???I'll rather become a musician or a writer and build the biggest brand in the world .Me .
When i asked him ,the mktg boss of pepsi cola, that how did he react to critcism on commercialsation of music.He was like Wat criticism??

"wot criticism?" good show! Well the advertising walas are just concerned with putting their coke ke bottle, supari and shampoos in blatantly in every nook and cranny of an event or a song. They r not concerned about the patronage and promotion of arts and asthetics...
..and this is wat makes the profession so dirty.This is what all anticommercialization gurus whine about.
The product placement in songs/videomercials are happening in pakistan because of non existence of any other revenue model for recording artists.

First of all a nice observation. What people how are working with marketing often do. when criticism comes upp is to deny it or talk around it. with out taking the point.
From my point of view one big thing is missing in Pakistani commercialization is the awareness of how companys are trying to influete differnt arenas.
